Mitigating Bias & Building Equitable Hiring Practices- February 8th, 2024. Virtual
Racial equity is more than human resources. At the same time, we cannot build anti-racist institutions unless we examine our hiring practices and employment systems.
In this session, participants will build on a basic and shared understanding of bias to assess organizational systems for areas of susceptibility to bias, the presence of inequities built into our seemingly neutral systems, and gain tools that support the practical implementation of equitable hiring practices.
The goals of this workshop are to:
Identify the conditions in hiring systems that result in bias;
Identify and design tactics that can disrupt or reduce implicit bias endemic in our institutions, and;
Review leading practices in equitable hiring.
Workshop Date: Thursday, February 8, 2024 from 9:30 – 11:30am
Duration: The workshop is approximately two (2) hours and requires 45 minutes of self-directed preparation before the facilitated online session. Links to materials will be provided upon registration.
Who should attend: Individuals who have participated in an introductory level workshop on systemic racism and who play some role in the hiring process at your institution.
