Portrait of Inequity

Where is the money going? Who makes the decisions about the money? Who has the decision-making power? What organizations receive the money? Who is being presented on their stages and their galleries and who is in their audiences? These were the questions that compelled Enrich Chicago to commission to first and only report of its kind of foundation giving practices in the Chicago arts and culture sector. Completed in late 2017, this findings propelled the work of our collaborative from that point forward. In March 2020, in light of a global health pandemic, Enrich Chicago shared our findings and a call to action to our colleagues in the field. It is our obligation to ensure that our ALAANA arts organizations and ALAANA leaders not only survive this challenging time but that they thrive well beyond it.
